Shutters Studio Residency provides a new platform for artists from all genres to deep dive into one of Germany’s biggest collections of analog synthesizers and discover progressive sounds on vintage machines.
Shutters Studio Residency is a concept created and curated by Malte von der Lancken, head of booking at Uebel & Gefährlich club. The music is brought to you in collaboration with Berlin-based Kommerz Records.
The Synthesizer Studio Hamburg is located in the city’s iconic Feldstraßen bunker as a backstage extension of night club Uebel & Gefährlich. The studio was founded by local engineers Sunny Vollherbst and Frank Husemann in 2010. Both were heavily involved in the evolution of the Hamburger Schule, the early 2000s German songwriting movement starring bands such as Tocotronic, Blumfeld and Kettcar and form the electronic music duo Q2. Their collection spans around 30 vintage synthesizers, organs and pianos as well as 16 drum machines, beat boxes, drum synthesizers.
